The RL550B is the workhorse Dillon press. In my (not so) humble opinion, it is the best press for the money. It can load almost anything (sorry, no .50 BMG) that is a centerfire rifle or
pistol cartridge. It is the most economical to expand and enhance, having less expensive conversions, than other presses.
If I were buying just one press and wanted the most bang for the buck, it would be a Dillon RL550B. RL 550B is a great press.

Lets’s see what Dillon says about it in the Blue Press:
(Dillon Blue Press continued) “Used with Dillon’s three-die pistol sets, the RL550B allows crimping to be done separately in the last station.
This feature makes die adjustment easier and produces a more consistent and accurate round of ammunition. For this reason, more competition ammunition is loaded on Dillon progressives than on all other loading machines combined.”

Eguns.com:
Wow. Those are some claims. Interesting thing is, they are true. You hear old timers say that only single stage presses can be used to make competition quality ammo. Tell that to all the guys who win or shoot competitively using their Dillon progressives! My single stage press has been relegated to holding my Dillon 1200 Electric Trimmer Motor.
